Collagen Percutaneous Induction Needling (PIN)
Collagen PIN is an innovative method of microneedling, one of the most popular and effective treatments for acne scarring, fine lines, and overall skin rejuvenation. It works by gently creating thousands of microscopic channels into your skin’s surface to allow your skin to heal tighter, smoother, and with renewed volume. Scarring and aging break down our collagen and elastin which leads to an uneven texture. When injured, your skin heals itself by creating fresh collagen and elastin.
Collagen PIN is extremely versatile due to its non-ablative, non-thermal, and fractionated approach to resurfacing. It is one of the few resurfacing options that is safe for darker skin types, as the risk of hyperpigmentation is very low, but a consultation is still required.
The Collagen PIN device looks like a thick pen and has a tip comprised of 12-36 sterile micro-needles. Your treatment starts by cleansing your face and applying a topical numbing cream to ensure your comfort. Then a hydrating serum is applied to allow the device to glide over your skin as the small surgical-grade needles gently vibrate over your skin’s surface. Your clinician will customize the depth of penetration of these needles to encourage more smoothing in crucial areas of concern such as acne scars, enlarged pores, and wrinkles. The treatment itself is very comfortable with some clients describing it as a light scratching or tickling sensation.

Wonderful Treatment
Collagen PIN is easy to fit into a busy schedule! Your skin may look and feel as though you have a mild sunburn immediately after your treatment. Slight redness and tingling may persist for up to three days, but you can wear makeup the day after your appointment. Your clinician will recommend specific guidelines on how to care for your skin following your treatment and the use of an SPF 30 or higher will be mandatory for several weeks.
Most clients notice an improvement in their skin’s smoothness and radiance after just one Collagen PIN treatment, but a package of at least three treatments, spaced three to four weeks apart is advised for optimal results. More appointments may be necessary for deeper acne scarring, deep-set wrinkles, or stretch marks.
Because collagen and elastin grow in three-month cycles, you can expect to continue to see improvements in your skin for up to three months after your last treatment. Collagen PIN is a wonderful treatment to have performed on an annual or quarterly basis to keep your skin’s collagen renewal rate high and to enjoy tightening and smoothing results all year round!
